Cleared yard after an A&A Tree Care removal with logs staged for pickup

Stump Grinding and Removal

A stump left behind sprouts, rots and draws termites. We grind it below grade and leave you a spot you can sod or plant.

Stump Grinding

Stump Grinding, done right

Whether we took the tree down or someone else did years ago, the grinder turns the stump and the main roots into mulch several inches below the surface. We can backfill with the grindings or haul them off and leave clean soil, your choice.

The Process

How stump grinding works with us

  1. 1

    Mark it

We locate lines and sprinklers before the machine goes near the stump.

  2. 2

    Grind

The cutter wheel works the stump down below grade and out along the main roots.

  3. 3

    Finish

Grindings raked level or removed, soil left ready for sod or planting.

FAQ

Stump Grinding questions

How deep do you grind?

Six to twelve inches below grade on most stumps, deeper if you plan to build or pour over the spot.

Can you get into a fenced backyard?

Yes. We run a narrow machine that fits through a standard gate.

Can I plant grass right after?

Once the grindings are removed or mixed with topsoil, yes. Grindings left in a pile will take a season to break down.
