FAQ

Tree service questions, answered straight

Where does A&A Tree Care work?

We are based in Folkston, Georgia and cover Charlton, Camden, Brantley, Ware, Glynn and Pierce counties in Georgia and Nassau and Baker counties in Florida: Folkston, Kingsland, St. Marys, Woodbine, Brunswick, Waycross, Blackshear, Hilliard, Callahan, Yulee and the towns in between.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. We come out, look at the tree and the access, and give you a written price. There is no charge and no obligation.

Do I pay anything up front?

No. You pay when the job is done and the yard is clean.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. A&A Tree Care LLC is fully licensed, bonded and insured, and we are happy to send the certificate before we start.

How fast can you get here?

Routine removals and trimming are usually scheduled within the week. Storm damage and trees on structures are handled around the clock and come first.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. On storm damage we photograph everything, write it up and work directly with your adjuster.

Do you offer any discounts?

Veterans, first responders and homeowners 55 and older get a discount on every job. Just mention it when you call.

Do you grind stumps and haul the debris?

Both. Stump grinding can be added to any removal, and every job ends with the brush chipped, the logs hauled and the yard raked.

Can you handle really big trees?

Yes. The crane, the bucket truck and the grapple truck let us take down 100-foot pines and wide oaks over houses that climbing crews cannot do safely.

How much does tree removal cost?

It depends on the height, the trunk size, how close it is to structures and how we can get equipment to it. That is why every estimate is done in person and in writing. There is no charge for the estimate and no money up front.

Do you remove trees that are leaning on the house?

Yes. Trees that have fallen on or are leaning against a structure are our most common storm call. We stabilize, cut and lift them off without adding damage, and we work directly with your insurance company.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Most of Charlton, Camden, Brantley and Nassau counties do not require a residential removal permit, but some cities and HOAs do. We will tell you at the estimate if your address needs one.

Will you take the stump too?

We can grind the stump below grade on the same visit. It is priced separately so you can decide.

When is a crane worth it?

When the tree is over a structure, when it is too dead to climb, or when it is simply too big to lower piece by piece. The crane usually finishes in hours what would take a climbing crew a day or more, so it often costs less than people expect.

Will the crane damage my driveway or lawn?

The outriggers sit on mats and we plan the setup to stay on pavement where possible. We walk the access route with you at the estimate.

Do you have your own crane?

We run crane picks with our own climber and ground crew on every job. Ask about the equipment at the estimate and we will tell you exactly what shows up.

How often should trees be trimmed?

Most oaks and pines near a house do well on a three-to-five-year cycle. Trees over the roof or near lines should be looked at every year or two.

Do you top trees?

No. Topping leaves weak regrowth that breaks in the next storm. We reduce crowns with proper cuts instead.

Can you trim just the limbs over my roof?

Yes. Roof-line clearance is one of our most common jobs and it is priced on its own.

How deep do you grind?

Six to twelve inches below grade on most stumps, deeper if you plan to build or pour over the spot.

Can you get into a fenced backyard?

Yes. We run a narrow machine that fits through a standard gate.

Can I plant grass right after?

Once the grindings are removed or mixed with topsoil, yes. Grindings left in a pile will take a season to break down.

Does homeowners insurance cover tree removal?

Usually when the tree damaged a covered structure. Most policies cap removal of trees that fell in the yard without hitting anything. We will tell you which category you are in at the first visit and work with your adjuster on the covered part.

How fast can you get here after a storm?

Emergency calls with a tree on a structure come first, often the same day. We stage crews ahead of named storms.

Do you tarp roofs?

We get the tree off and can tarp the opening so your roofer can follow. We do not do roof repairs.

What counts as a load?

One trailer full. Most residential storm piles are one load; we tell you the count before we start.

Can you pick up from the backyard?

If the truck can reach it. Otherwise the crew drags the pile to where the claw can get it.

Do you take construction debris?

Wood, brush and vegetation. Not roofing, concrete or household trash.

Do you clear whole lots or just trees?

Both. We take everything from undergrowth to 100-foot pines and leave the ground ready to build on.

Can you leave some trees?

Yes. Selective clearing is common; we flag keepers with you before any machine starts.

Do you do grading?

Rough grading and root raking after clearing, yes. Finished grading and pads are coordinated with your builder.

Still have a question?

Call and ask. If a tree is on something, we answer at any hour.
